New paving area project
Project Address: Mars, Pa
Project Description: Our team recently completed a professional excavation and asphalt paving project for a residential property in Mars, Pennsylvania. The goal of this project was to extend the home's existing driveway footprint, creating a dedicated, heavy-duty additional parking area built to handle daily vehicular traffic.
The initial phase of construction required substantial site preparation. Our crew dug out and removed the existing lawn, excavating the soil down to the proper depth to accommodate a stable sub-base. Once the raw earth was cleared and leveled, we installed a crushed stone aggregate base, grading it precisely to ensure correct pitch and water runoff away from the property. This stone base was thoroughly compacted using heavy-duty rollers to eliminate settling and establish a rigid, load-bearing foundation.
Over this prepared sub-base, we paved a thick, 3-inch top coat of premium hot-mix asphalt. Our technicians carefully raked and leveled the hot material, paying close attention to the transition line where the new parking area meets the existing driveway to ensure a smooth, seamless seam. We then performed a multi-pass compaction with our commercial rollers, sealing the surface to maximize density, durability, and resistance to oil and fuel spills.
Proper slope management and a solid stone base are critical in Western Pennsylvania to prevent water pooling and protect the pavement from shifting during winter freeze-thaw cycles. By adhering to rigorous excavation and compaction standards, we have delivered a clean, functional parking addition that enhances both the property’s utility and its curb appeal. This project showcases our expertise in handling residential land clearing and precise asphalt installation.
